A carer review is conducted to indicate the appropriateness of the carer in their role and if the child or young person should continue to be placed under their care.
Additionally, the review often includes recommendations to identify further needs in terms of support or development for the child or young person.

What We Do
We can assist the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and other agency staff to meet their requirements by conducting an annual carer reviews. We meet with caseworkers prior to meeting with carers to discuss the individual situations.
The child’s views are always included in our carer reviews.
How It Works
The carer review occurs when an assessor goes to the home of a carer.
Questions will be asked about the progress of the children within the household including:
- Discussing any issues or difficulties which need resolving
- Ensuring the carer is complying with the code of conduct
- Identifying the carers training and support needs
- Check the current circumstances of the household to ensure nothing has changed to affect their authorisation
- Any recommendations to provide necessary support for the child will be made
