We complete Guardianship assessments for children who have been in care with the same carers for a significant period.
We write a thorough report which can be included in any necessary Court or agency records.
What It Is
Guardianship is an order made by the Children’s Court for a child in out-of-home care (foster care) who cannot be returned to their family for their own safety.
Under a Guardianship order, a child or young person is in the independent care of their Guardian.
If it’s safe to do so, the Guardianship order will give a child or young person contact with their parents, family and other important people in their life.
How It Works
Our Guardianship assessments incorporate the views of all significant people in a child’s life, including the long term carers, parent, and other members of the birth family.
The Guardianship assessment will inform the Children’s Court and guide the Court’s decisions about whether a Guardianship order is the best option to meet the needs of the child or young person.
